Kaj Bune Photography - Only my favorites
These are my favorite images. No criteria, just the ones that I like the best.
I hope you like them too.

Rain, wind, cold - who cares. Paddlers have fun in all weather.
Love the spirit of this shot.

I just like this guy.

Once again, always have the camera handy. One never knows what will be stumbled upon.

This is definitely a favorite of mine but one that most people would never choose as theirs, I'm pretty sure - it has a pretty subtle, personal context. I was walking along the back "streets" of Venice when I saw this guy holding up a huge mirror that was reflecting the water. I had to make a quick lens change, thinking all the while that he was going to change the angle of the mirror. He didn't and I got my shot and I still like this one a lot. It sums up Venice for me: water at everyone's doorstep - inescapable.

The skate park is a dynamic place with all sorts of photographic opportunities.

Straining to hear the forecast we want to hear.

What perfection in formation! These guys know how to fly.

I like the intimate feel of this shot from the Enchantments in the Cascades of Washington.

This remains a favorite shot. We were lucky with the weather for this 3-day circumnavigation of the San Juan Islands. Eerie time though - these were the three days following the September 11 attacks.

Wind scoops always impress me - nature as sculptor. They often remain amazingly unchanged year to year.

My friend Renata had a great adventure circumnavigating the lower 48 states by human power. These were shot over a 2 day period at Hobuck Beach on the coast of Washington. Getting in the surf with Renata was a hoot!

I love to hang out with my friend Nils and this shot captures some of the playfulness of our outings. Certainly better in real life, but I guess that's always the case.

Mt. Rainier in the background. A favorite for many reasons: fun climb, good friend, great weather, and I'm sure we had an excellent beer after we got down.

It pays to carry a camera everywhere. Some of my favorite images are the result of my stumbling upon stuff at random. Love this sort of photography.

Afternoon sun was pouring through this kelp stipe and caught my eye. From the
coast of BC.

It doesn't take much to get the point across. These are two of my favorite from The Contrast Project. I love removing things and seeing if the image still speaks to me.

Paul Claus, super pilot, digs out for a take-off. St. Elias Mountains of Alaska.

A lonely feel. It tells the story of Renata's trip. Alone for long stretches.

The oily looking water and the stark contrast of the bow of the boat feel good to me. Make me want to paddle and feel and hear the bow breaking the surface. Motion:Emotion? Yes indeed.

...and the stark white background.
